More Comet closures announced

Wednesday 28 November 2012 11:00

Deloitte, the administrators for Comet, has announced that in the absence of a "firm offer" for the electrical retailer, it is to close a further 125 shops over the next "several weeks".

This will leave 70 stores remaining open until Comet sells its remaining stock and the plans mean all Comet shops are likely to close before Christmas, with more than 5,000 remaining staff losing their jobs if no offer materialises.

Chris Farrington, joint administrator, said: “We remain in discussions with a small number of interested parties and hope that a positive outcome can still be achieved.

“Should any acceptable offers be received for stores we will delay the closure process.”
