Charity deal dished out

A Teesside design agency has won a contract to help market a national children’s charity which is backed by Princess Anne and rugby legend Sir Clive Woodward.

M Media & Design (mm&d) has won a two-year deal with Wooden Spoon, which works closely with the rugby community to help disadvantaged children and young people live happier lives.

mm&d will provide all marketing materials, online and offline, to the charity and help promote awareness of the charity, with the target of helping it to increase its members from 9,000 to 18,000.

Its first assignment was to promote the charity’s Carnival Ball earlier this month, which raised £225,000 for Wooden Spoon’s causes.

The Wooden Spoon contract is the latest in a number of rugby-related assignments for mm&d, whose current clients include the Newcastle Falcons and the London Scottish FC rugby team.

Director Gavin Hatton, said: “While the work with Wooden Spoon enables us to continue our prolific track record in handling the marketing needs of rugby-related organisations, it also allows us to support a charity which has a hugely positive impact on the lives of the young people it helps.”

Among Wooden Spoon’s honorary presidents are Sir Clive Woodward, Jason Leonard, Martin Bayfield, Gavin Hastings, Rory Underwood, Danny Grewcock, Rob Andrew and Phil Vickery. Princess Anne, meanwhile, is also a patron of the charity.
