Global move on Teesside

Thursday 6 December 2012 6:00

Global engineering, procurement and construction group Foster Wheeler Energy has signed a 10-year lease on two floors of Middlesbrough’s 17-story Centre North East building.

BNP Paribas Real Estate and Storeys Edward Symmons have agreed the lease for the entire 16th and 17th floors on behalf of Commercial Estates Group.

Foster Wheeler Energy Limited was represented by commercial property consultancy Vail Williams LLP in the transaction.

Foster Wheeler, which also supplies power equipment, secured the floors within the building, which will be fully refurbished before the company relocates in mid-2013.

Aidan Baker, director of agency at BNP Paribas Real Estate’s Newcastle office, said: “Middlesbrough is a major centre for the Teesside conurbation and Centre North East is the best known business address within the town centre.

“The top two floors benefit from spectacular panoramic views of Teesside, this coupled with the central location makes it the ideal business location.”

John Cumming, general manager, Teesside operations at Foster Wheeler Energy, added: “Foster Wheeler is pleased to be able to demonstrate our continuing commitment to Middlesbrough and Centre North East provides an excellent opportunity to do this whilst providing the potential accommodation to grow the business further.”
