Green light for wind site

Friday 11 January 2013 5:00

An application to locate two test masts on the site of a proposed new wind farm to the north of Guisborough has been approved by Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council.

North East developer Banks Renewables, part of the Banks Group, is developing detailed plans for the proposed Bank Field scheme, which would be situated on agricultural land on the northern side of the A171 on land owned by the Guisborough Estate.

The 60m masts will be used to carry out a complete assessment of the wind conditions on the site, with the data gathered helping to inform the scheme design process.

If the wind farm plans are approved, it would be the first such scheme in the borough council area.

Plans for the Bank Field wind farm are expected to include up to six turbines with a maximum tip height of 125m.

Up to 40 jobs would be created through the construction of the wind farm.

A planning application for the wind farm expected to be submitted before the end of 2013.
