One of the world’s biggest electrical goods manufacturers is looking to expand and grow its presence in the UK with the help of a North East law firm.

Newcastle-based Ward Hadaway has been working closely with Chinese firm Hisense, a world leading manufacturer of flat panel TVs, household appliances, and mobile communication devices employing over 60,000 people worldwide.

Leeds has been chosen as the base for its UK subsidiary, Hisense UK Ltd which will launch the firm onto the UK market as well as run Hisense’s recent acquisition, the well known UK brand, Fridgemaster.

Steve Thomas partner at Ward Hadaway, who led the firm’s team with support from solicitor Anna Shaw, said: “We are delighted to have assisted Hisense on its entry into the UK. It is excellent news to see such a substantial company investing in the UK and wanting to build a long-term business here.”

Louis Hou of Hisense UK Ltd, said: “We appreciated the efficiency and expertise which Ward Hadaway demonstrated and their experience of working with Chinese companies, which means they have a better understanding of how Chinese companies do business.

“This makes communication very smooth and efficiency very high and we look forward to working with Ward Hadaway in the future as our legal partner going forward.”
