The company specialises in world-leading products and applications for measurement, monitoring and quality improvement in the production and rolling of steel.

The firm, that employs 65 staff, is one of the world’s leaders in advanced technology products for the metal manufacturing industry and has invested in brand new 13,000 sq ft manufacturing base on the Evolution Advanced Manufacturing Park that will become operational in May.

“We have great ambitions to grow and enter new markets with our strong reputation and client base.  We have seen a massive increase in demand over the past few years and we needed a much larger facility to allow for future expansion,” said managing director Keith Shillam.

The new manufacturing centre and offices will allow for up to 100 per cent increase in capacity and the firm hopes to grow and boost staff numbers over the coming months.

“We now have the platform from which to leap forward and grow organically but also by acquisition if appropriate.  We are excited about what we see as a massively positive development in Sarclad’s 35 year history,” added Mr Shillam.

The firm has taken a ten year lease on the new premises that replaces its previous base at Chesterfield Trading Estate, nine miles south of Sheffield. “Sarclad is a great manufacturing success story and is exactly the type of business that can help the region’s economy to grow and recover.

The newly announced Enterprise Zone is the perfect location for this type of growing high tech manufacturing employer,” said Paul Houghton, partner at Grant Thornton in Sheffield, the firm’s auditors and advisers.

“Keith has led a transformation of the business with a brand new management team over the past few months.  With a first rate reputation within its markets and a strong pipeline of international orders, we expect to see Sarclad grow at its new base and fly the flag throughout the world for this region’s manufacturing expertise,” he added.

Sarclad grew turnover to £10m in the year to December 2011 with a raft of contract wins from metals manufacturers across Europe, the Far East and the Americas and expects to grow turnover by more than 50 per cent in 2012. Sarclad Limited is hosting an opening event on Wednesday 23 May 2012 for invited guests at the new offices at Evolution Advanced Manufacturing Park, Rotherham.
